Shown above are the typical components found in a conventional
secondary ignition circuit. Please remember that the spark plug is actually
the second gap that must be jumped in a secondary ignition with a conventional
cap and rotor ThereÕs a second gap between the cap rotor button and the
head of the ignition rotor. If you set your scope to 10 micro seconds
per division, you will be able to view both spark events, as shown below.
This type of testing can be used to verify internal cap problems caused
by a larger than normal rotor air gap. The pattern shown here is normal.
